New Free Men’s Bushcraft Wellbeing Sessions – ‘Common Ground’

Jul 22, 2026 | What We Do

Building on the success of last year’s bushcraft wellbeing sessions (where 97% of participants said they felt mentally healthier after attending), our new Men’s Bushcraft Wellbeing Sessions are underway!

‘Common Ground’ is one of 23 new men’s mental health projects, supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

These free sessions are open to men (or anyone who identifies as a man) aged 18+, living in York or North Yorkshire, who experience either a diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health condition, including stress, anxiety, loneliness or low mood.

“I just love the whole package personally. Meeting new people while doing activities is great!”

Led by experienced bushcraft practitioner Nick from Project: WILD C.I.C., the sessions run from 10am to 4pm and provide a friendly, inclusive space to connect with nature, take part in mindful activities and team challenges, learn new skills such as foraging and fire lighting, and cook over an open fire.

The impact of these sessions is already clear, with all participants so far reporting an improvement in mood.

Places are available on the following sessions:

Friday 31st July 2026 (Three Hagges Woodmeadow, Escrick, near York/Selby, YO19 6EE)

Tuesday 4th August 2026 (Carlton Lodge, Thirsk, YO7 4NJ)

Thursday 3rd September 2026  (Cober Hill, Cloughton, Scarborough, YO13 0AR
